Intelligent Textiles - Part 2
The nomenclature now used to define intelligent textiles is SFIT (Smart Fabrics / Interactive Textiles). This definition includes textiles that respond intelligently or interact with electrical stimuli or their environment through:
- Conduction, transmission or distribution of various properties within or outside of a given material, including electrical currents, luminous energy, particulate or molecular matter, heat energy, etc.;
- Modification of the physical characteristics or phases of a given material, including colour, permeability, porosity, rigidity, form, dimensions, etc.
